Is Your Website Mobile Friendly Yet?

If you are a business owner in 2016, then your answer to this question should be - YES.

What does it mean to have a "mobile-friendly" website? It’s important to understand that Google's focus here is on the user/searcher experience. Google wants to connect the everyday searcher to the most relevant and high-quality websites that were created with the user in mind. In April of last year when Google made this huge announcement, they also released valuable information on how to make your website mobile friendly.

Why is Google on this Mobile Kick?

Because it makes sense. You would have to be living in a cave not to see that nearly EVERYONE has a smartphone or tablet these days. Most business owners and entrepreneurs have heard the saying "success leaves clues." Well, Google is one of the most (if not THE most) successful companies in the world and continues to dominate the industry every year. HINT: It would be extremely wise to follow the clues.

CLUE: Google says 66% of searches are coming in through mobile devices so they updated the algorithms to give preference to sites that are mobile friendly. Smart move right?

Of course it is.

Hmmm, Why has it been a year since the announcement and many sites are still not mobile-friendly?

To be fair, there could be many reasons:

- Business owner had no clue this was going on

- Business owner did not know what steps to take to make the necessary changes

- Business owner thought mobile "responsive" meant the same as mobile friendly so he/she ignored the update

My thought process: If the world's largest search engine made a huge change based on the activity of my potential customers, I'm paying attention and taking immediate action to stay ahead of my competitors. My partners and I have been tracking statistics for the last 8 months and there have been drastic changes in search rankings. If your site is not mobile-friendly yet, it's very important that you make sure it is as soon as possible.
